Education Outreach

One of Actors’ Summit’s core values reads:

EDUCATION: We value service to our community and commit resources to the production of education/outreach programming that enriches, validates, and supports the life experiences of people of all ages.

BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS. New in 2008, Actors' Summit has developed a Student Ticket Subsidy Fund to make all student tickets available at the low price of $7 for any of our regular performances. This eliminates the financial barrier that separates young scholars from attending the theater. This fund is also intended to encourage parents to attend the theater as a family without breaking the bank. Note: Adult students must present valid student identification.

ONLINE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING COURSE for Teachers & FREE STUDENT MATINEES. The GAR Foundation has provided funding for Akron Public High School teachers to participate with their classes in an online course to supplement their trip to the theater to see Spoon River Anthology - including a FREE trip to the theater to see Spoon River Anthology and transportation. The added benefit for teachers is that they receive one FREE Continuing Education Credit toward the renewal of their teaching license upon completion of the course.

Teachers outside of the Akron Public School District can participate in the collaborative learning course at the low cost of $130 per teacher and $7 per student.

REGULAR STUDENT MATINEE PERFORMANCES. Student Groups can attend any performance at $7 per student with tickets for teachers, chaperones, and bus drivers at no cost.

Actors' Summit has made a long term commitment to using the art of theater to assist students of all ages. Theater can be an effective teaching aid in improving student performance in a wide range of subject areas.
