Actors’ Summit announces open auditions for the musicals Main-Travelled Roads, and A Sanders Family Christmas, as well as for Spoon River Anthology, a play with music. Auditions will be held at Actors’ Summit’s theater, 86 Owen Brown Street, in Hudson. Auditions will be by appointment on Tuesday, July 22, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
Both Equity and non-equity actors are encouraged to audition.
Main-Travelled Roads will be given its Ohio premiere as the opening show of the season. The play, based on the stories of Hamlin Garland, with music by Paul Libman, and book and lyrics by Dave Hudson will be directed by Sasha Thackaberry, with musical direction by Evie Morris. Main-Travelled Roads will perform September 18 – October 5.

A Sanders Family Christmas, the sequel to Smoke on the Mountain, is a holiday musical with strong folk and blue-grass roots. The show will perform December 4 through December 21.
Spoon River Anthology, based on the poetry of Edgar Lee Masters, is also heavily dependent on American Folk Music. Spoon River Anthology will be performed March 12 – March 29, 2009.
A Sanders Family Christmas and Spoon River Anthology will be directed by MaryJo Alexander, the Co-Artistic director of Actors’ Summit.
Auditioners should come prepared to sing a song of their choosing from the American folk genre. An accompanist will be available. The directors are particularly interested in seeing actor / singers who also play musical instruments.
Auditioners will also be asked to read from one or more of the scripts.
Actors' Summit is committed to Non-Traditional Casting. Except in cases where race, gender, age, or disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast on the basis of talent. There are no roles available for people under the age of 18.
